The fuel pump power is controlled by the key switch. Perhaps water or mud got into the contacts?

The fuel pump may also have a relay if it is EFI the relay will be by the ECU.

He did...

If you have an electrical diagram, that will help.
However you can do most of the troubleshooting without one for now.

You indicate that if he puts power to the fuel pump it will start. Well, trace the wires to the fuel pump back to the next device. Take the wire off there and apply the power to that end of the wire. See if it still starts. If it doesn't it's in that wire/connection between that point and the fuel pump.

If it does, then the problem is from that point to the ignition You'll need the wiring diagram if the next item in the wiring harness is the ECU.

These have a Suzuki engine in them , right?

With power available and the key switch in the on and start positions you may be able to track it down taking voltage readings on each of the wires going into and out of the ECU.

It may take some time to narrow this down. If the cost of an ECU isn't too much I may just purchase a new one to assist with the troubleshooting.

I can't believe the dealer had you purchae a new ignition with that few miles on it.. It's still under warranty, right?

I would have thought that they would make the buggy more durable than this.
