joyner 650 winch does it freewheel to pull the cable out?

I thought that knob on the side, but justed to make sure before i find out too late.

Is there any maintenance to the wench?

other than $$$ which always got me in trouble with wench's in the past

but fear not, my chineeeese model has held up well over time, very reliable; not once have I been in desperate need & had her not B there 4 me.
Covet not your neighbors wench !!
PS: it is bad carma to mention replacing her, at least dont let her hear u)

I not sure; maybe there are others with more expertise than I, that could shed some light on this maitainance issue...

The knob should pull out and turn 90 degrees to free-wheel the winch. If the the shaft is corroded or dirty, you will need to work some penetrating oil into the shaft. There is a plastic cover on the end of the knob that will expose a retaining nut once removed.

I suggest a snatch block for heavy duty winching. I never had problems pulling mine around when double lined.

hmmm snatch block...good idea...i have 5,000lb tow strap that i could use as well.
