Check these out. Picked them up from Amazon (50 of four different sizes for $10). Used them to wire in the LED tail lights on the HH.





You just strip the ends of the wires, feed them in from opposite ends, then heat them up. There's a low temp solder in the middle and then the plastics are all shrink tubing. Very slick. I used a lighter even though they said to use a heat gun. Worked great.

Haven't pulled on them to see how strong, that's probably the only down side.

If you get a good solder joint, it should be as strong or stronger than a mechanical crimp. I have used them in past when they were expensive and hard to find on line. I usually do all my repairs with solder and heat shrink at home since there is less bulk, but these would be handy field repairs that don't need to be retouched later.

Hint: If you are splicing wire bundles together, offset your splices from each other and you will not get that big bump in your harness that looks like a snake that just swallowed its meal.

Great point, if staggered, could probably still wrap the black protector over them and make it look like it hadn't been altered. I was in a bit more of a hurry.
