Right, well I've got $8,000 and I'm looking to get a buggy. I'm having a hard time deciding weather to get a used RZR, or a Joyner 650cc Sand Spider(or some similar buggy). I live around the NJ/NY border, and have 79 acres up by Lake George, so I'd use it more on trails and fireroads, than sand and wide open areas. It gets pretty muddy up there around spring time, and the trails can get a bit messy in places, logs, ruts, rocks, ect.
I tend to drive all out, they both have about the same top speed, how do they handle? I want to be able to slide around when I want, and stick as though on rails, when I don't. Has anyone had a chance to drive both? Any opinions on which would suit me better, for that kind of terrain? How about comfort, seats, harnesses? Instrumentation? Reliability? Oh, and most importantly of all, jumpability?

i have ridden in both but the rzr i rode in was a long travel awesome beast
rzr top speed 70 ss top speed 60
for tight trail riding id say the rzr as its 54 inches wide in the stock form and the ss is 65 4x4 is also good for mud
personally if i were you id get the ss because of where i ride the rzr needs upgrades to keep up with the pack and ride comfy the ss rides pretty good stock
but for you id have to say rzr if you can find one

check out the rzr forum, the following is huge for the rzr. i too live near the ny/nj border and i can tell you the rzr is a great all-arounder. my 2wheel drive buggy handles better but has trouble with deep snow or mud. in the rzr you just hit the 4wd switch and nail it. they each have their place, the buggy is better at speed and in open areas the rzr kills in the trails/mud/snow/hillls. jumping is about equal. the rzr has suspension options that are nearly unlimited just very $$$.
I have a SS and I love it. If I had $8,000 to spend,I would by the RZR only because if there is a problem just drop it by the dealer, problem solved. I don't know about a joyner dealer in NJ/NY. BIGE is a long way from there. Clint

Around Phoenix, Az, you can pick up a new Joyner 1100 Sand Viper for under $8000. At ~ 86 HP stock, it will generally blow the snot out of a RZR. Turbocharge the Joyner, and it'll blow the nose as well as the snot off the RZR. The RZR, going slower in 4X4, rugged terrain or deep mud, has the edge.
