It could be. I know that the Chery engines I've seen are 4 valves per cylinder and this is a 2 vavle per cylinder. Also, the horsepower and torque ratings are different, obviously, from the 4 per cylinder. This engine takes the same oil filter as the Joyner 650, a JX0604. Don't know if that makes a diff?

If it is a Chery it will have red lettering on the valve cover it sounds like a Luang (spelling?) the HP is a lot less than a Chery. All 1100 & 800 CC are not the same in these China buggies. The Chery motor in both sizes have DOHC and have better HP than the others in stock form at least this is what I have found from my research. Mike
Nope. No red lettering or any lettering at all. It does have a Delphi ignition-GM I think. That's why I'm trying to link it with some GM related company(Korean, Japanese, Chinese??) I've no idea. Any of your input helps. Thank you. TB
