The year really doesn't matter too much.
If you post some pictures of the front of your buggy, with some close up shots of your spindles, we can tell you what version you have which will narrow it down to a year.
The engines on the Y'Dog are all the same.

FYI: The carb shipped out yesterday afternoon. You should have received an email indicated as such, which will also have the tracking number in it...

thanks again chris, man i cant wait!! i will see if i can get some pics uploaded, need to ask the wife for help with that  the link that pghruby posted was a big help it shows that if on the front suspension . the upper arms are shorter than the lower. the year of the machine would probably be pre 04' a first or second generation. the year was just for my own knowledge and if the motors are the same getting parts wont be as bad as i thought, well if it is as old as it seems i can understand the funky carb issues  i just figured the year an vin or serial number might be an issue as i run into when i restore old cars :D

It's just a standard chain.... #50 or #530.
Oh well, I guess not all Lowes are created equal.
Do you need a whole new chain or just a master link?
If all you need is the link, go to a motorcylce shop and see if they have it there.
No need to special order one... you can order one online at http://www.mfgsupply.com/GoMiniChain.html/mv_session_id=boxdI8Qk
or you can go to McMaster (http://www.mcmaster.com)
The links are cheap...

=D> it runs! thanks chris!!! its not perfect but it will rev up without stalling :D next question, it would not start regardless of throttle position when cold! about 40 degrees today, i gave it a shot of either to make sure it wasn't a fuel issue and it ran if held the pedal. it took some time to warm up and i had to extend the idle screw to make it idle. after a while i was able to back off on the idle screw enough to have the cvt slow enough that if it were hooked up the cart wouldnt just take off. did i miss something?? #-o i spent all day cleaning the carb and i think i found one problem why my other carb was giving to much fuel. when i cleaned the new used carb jet the idle jet#35 had no passage through from top to bottom on my other original carb you could look from top to bottom i assume someone may have drilled it thinking it was dirty?? should you be able to look through? well like i said once it ran the idle would go up and down eventually ran decent now to find my master link for my test drive then maybe its time to spend money on some new parts. THANKS CHRIS!!!

:D =D> i just wanted to thank everone who helped me the cart now runs and drives thanks to chris especially! =D> my son and i had our first run yesterday what a blast!! i was able to get a master link at the motorcycle store even though it was a #50 the retaining clip wouldn't go i so i did a little redneck adjustment by grinding the clip plate its still a little tight but its on! i noticed on my cart where you adjust the chain the piece that heads down toward the chain that the adjusting bolt goes threw is cracked what would this part be called? i need a new one or maybe have someone weld mine.. again thank you! i just wish the turning radius wasnt so large i will have to get used to it or redneck it =D> :D
