I have searched the forums but can't find what I am looking for. I have a Yerf Dog 150. Problems is I can't get it to turn over. I at first thought battery because someone had drained it while trying to start it with the kill switch on. Charged the battery after that and even tried to change battery. It acts like the kill switch is permenatly engaged. I have disengaged that from the brake and permantly wired that out of the circuit. What I have found so far: I have correct voltage at the starter switch. I have tried jumping between the solenoid post and it does nothing. Is the starter bad?

Remove the starter and see if it spins without load - If it does, try spinning the engine over by hand. if both the starter and engine spin, you have a bad starter clutch. Otherwise replace the starter or troubleshoot the seized engine.
I pulled the starter out and it will not turn at all. Guess that really narrows down to what the problem is. Thanks for the help. Now on to find a starter in a reasonable time frame.....

Have you verified that you have voltage at the starter while it's removed? I ask cuz it's a little unusual to have a starter go bad (in this case, open) without smoke, burnt wires, etc, first.

Well, the problem continues. I replaced the starter and now I do not have power coming from the relay. I could have sworn that I did before. Good thing I got one on order along with an ignition coil and spark plug. I took the spark plug out last night and I have no idea how it was even working in the first place. Somehow the threaded end got bent. Guess it is a good thing I am finding this now as opposed to it going completly bad at a very bad time. As far as the starter is concerned, I going to make myself feel better by assuming that the starter was bad anyway.
I did notice that one of the wires coming from the rectifier (white) looks like it has got really hot before. The plug is kinda melted and the end of the wire has a few cracks caused from heat. Any ideas as to what caused this or what might have gone bad?

You say the sparkplug is bent? Are you sure the motor is not locked up aside your starter not working? Bent plugs dont go in like that and are a result of something hitting them, i.e. piston, valve...

Ok, I am getting confused now. I have replaced the starter, spark plug, ignition coil, cdi, and relay. Still get nothing. I think my problem still lies in the starter. Although new, it is shorted between the wire on it and the housing. SO that means the wire is shorted straight to ground. This sounds wrong to me. I was under the impression that that wire was supposed to have voltage on it and that is what makes it spin. Am I wrong? Any help is much appreciated.

I pulled the starter out and I still have a direct connection from the wire on the starter to the housing. This is not right is it? I was under the impression that power wire should not be grounded out. Is this correct?

Ok, I applied power directly to the starter an it spins. Engine spins as well so it is not seized. I have 12.65VDC on the power side of the relay. When the push button is pressed, all power disappears there. Like it goes straight to ground. This is a new starter relay as well. Any ideas as to what is going on? Wiring maybe?
