Is anyone familiar with the Yonghe Engine?

All the parts I am finding all say they work with the Howhit, but nothing about the Yonghe.

I am looking at purchasing the following from buggydepot.com

1. BDX Stage 1 Engine Upgrade: CDI w/ 20 degree inginition advance, UNI Filter, and High Output Ignition Coil.

2. BDX Stage 1 Drivetrain: 1500 Yellow Spring and 9, 10, 12 gram rollers. I will be using the 12g rollers out of this set.

3. BDX Stage 1 Electrical: High Output 8-coil Stator and 8-magnet Flywheel.

4. Jets ranging from 125-135. I think I will end up using the 130 or 135.

5. CR7HIX NGK Spark Plug from local motorsports shop.

I am not going to drill out exhaust as I would like to return buggy to stock if needed.

Is there any reason why these parts would not work on my buggy? Do these upgrades sound like a good start? Based on what I could find on here the 130-135 jet is right for the mods I am doing.

Also, how much louder is the engine noise with the UNI, I current have a stock box and stock snorkel tube that runs behind the passenger seat. I personally do not like a loud buggy as I will be putting a radio with speakers in shortly.

Thanks for the help.

Those items should work on your engine. You may want to check if your CDI is powered off the red/black lead off the stator (AC) verses through your key stitch and battery (DC). BigE now has performance DC CDIs while most buggies use the AC CDI that Buggy Depot sells.

The only other differences you will find is the head and cylinders. If you only have to bolt holding your valve cover, you have a SUNL designed engine that will not accept the aftermarket cams. Also SUNL and Dazon engines have their exhaust ports oriented differently than the other engines.

Thanks for the reply. I just now found a shop next to my house that specializes in these buggies so I am going to get a quote on cost to do all this and tuning.

Since I don't have the tools, it may be worth having them do it.

They also sell MRP upgrades and said he can get me a lot better price then buggydepot.

They are $65 an hour. Since they are considering themselves professionals in this engine market, how many hours do you think it should take to install and tune the above upgrades?

The only special tools you need to do this job are an impact wrench with 17mm and 18mm sockets for the clutch and variator, oversized socket (I don't remember the size) for the clutch spring and flywheel puller for the stator upgrade.

MRP products are fine, but the UNI filter is much better than the MRP product.

An experienced shop should be able to install and tune your buggy within two hours. Some of the dealers can chime in and give you their estimate.

Wow, you guys are quick to respond. I will be sticking with the UNI Filter for sure and decide on where to buy parts after I review their selection/prices.

Anyone heard of this company:

http://westvalleymotorsportsaz.com/

The guy seemed pretty nice and I believe this is a newer shop based on what I was told by the other motorsports shop that sent me to them (other company didn't work on buggies).

Again thanks.

I am attaching my wiring diagram, based on this and a comparison with a Baja 150 Reaction Wiring diagram, it appears mine is different.

Can anyone verify. The photo is high quality so you should be able to see everything.

Guess the subject line doesn't come across on a reply. I attached the wiring diagram to see if anyone can confirm that I have a DC based CDI.

West Valley Motorsports is right behind my shop. Levi is not new to the business! He is new to the location, about 2 years.
You will be fine with him

Thanks John, I will be dropping the buggy off next week for tuninng/jetting. I think I am going to take a stab at rollers, clutch, spring, stator, CDI and UNI. I am going to hopefully only need Jets and Tuning as I really don't feel like messing with that.

I may also have him look at my front wheel bearings as I think they are dirty diaper.

You do have a DC powered CDI according to your diagram. It is powered off the switched ignition wire.
