Automotive based buggy

Hi and hello, been a very long time since ive been here
I want to get back into buggys and really want to build something again
ive had Chinese buggys and found them a bit flimsy ive had honda pilots and found them a bit small so I want something that I fit in with ease and robust enough to survive a roll over at speed, I was thinking of taking a chassis of a production vehicle and adding a roll cage/body to it, must have been done many times before anyone got any links to build threads so I can see whats already been done ??

Most smaller chassis vehicles are unibody which will make it difficult to cut pieces out without creating weak points. Frame based vehicles are easier and many have exocages over a stripped body.

cutting a body shell here in the uk will invalidate it from being road legal so want to try and stay away from that, we can however take a chassis from something like a Vitara/sidekick and as long as we don't alter the chassis we can rebody it and stay road legal, so im thinking something along the lines of a uva fugitive but with out the rear overhang mounted on a sidekick chassis
