Ok got BN to thank for this purchase 8)

Bought this on impulse and excuse was for my wife

2008 HH-250 SS, owner states cable needs adjustment due to not going into low gear. It GRINDS making ugly noise when going into low gear but high/reverse are fine. Now gear engages into low but pops out and starts grinding once it feels a "load". I havent had time to work on it but curious if it needs to be opened up or actually needs just a cable adjustment...

Pics of my rigs cleaned up, ignore the rear wheels on the new to me 250 as i will be looking for stock rear 250 wheels soon:

How the he77 did you not recognize the one he bought? We've only been debating it on your thread for the last few days. :D

Anyway, to the OP, congrats on your purchase. I see you are keeping your other parts. Keep us posted on your low gear issue. I think Papa Rich has been in the trans on that machine if you have any questions. He's a good source.

I have been in those but not for that reason. I currently have one here that is doing the same thing. I do know that the linkage can be a problem. Also if someone has jambed the shifter you make have jumped a tooth on the gear that is moved by the arm that your linkage is attached to. If you pull the side cover off where the shifter goes into the transmission being careful as to not disengage the shaft that the shift arm is attached to from the gear inside. I usually use a screw driver and push in on the shaft as I remove the cover to hold it in place. Once you do that you can see if the alignment marks are aligned up. There is the problem with some of these not having the marks then your on your own...

one other thing i have encountered is when someone tries jamming it into gear the shifter assy by the seats jumps a tooth or two. when you try to go into low gear is your shift handle all the way back against the housing to where it can't go any further? my brothers did that because his son thought the buggy was a manual shift when he first got on it...lol
you can take the shifter apart and line the teeth back up so you have full range.

Now your being a complete retard. He obviously took a main picture of the silver one with black wheels. Assuming that's the one he bought.

Joe may I suggest that you quit painting a target on your back and folks will quit taking shots at you. If you were more familar with the HH you would know the other two are earlier models that were not the SS style. Just my opinion for whats it worth.

You called me a "complete retard"? Nice. How old are you? You should probably be a little more sensitive to the fact that some members on here may have family members that are mentally challenged, or have developmental disabilities.

Anyway, I can see how you missed the buggy. It was hidden in the picture. You're obviously not very good at playing "Where's Waldo".

My apologies. Didn't mean to hijack your thread.

I've had the shifter jump a tooth. Here's what it looks like. There should be a set of dots to let you know how to line them up. I had this sprocket bend inward, which caused it to slide behind the other sprocket, and then jumped a tooth.

I forgot I had another pic of the shift case. This will show you the dots on the two sprockets and how they line up. Try and save that gasket if you take the case off. I think you need it for proper spacing.

My sprocket jumped a tooth while we were at the Badlands. Like a dummy, I broke from the pack and went off on my own. I got into this pea-gravel stuff and that's when the shifter jumped some teeth. I could only get into high. I was stuck at the bottom of a hill in the pea gravel and really needed low gear or reverse. Ended up pulling from the front while hitting the gas with my hand. Lost about 10lbs in sweat. Took me an hour to get unstuck. The worst part....didn't have any beer with me.
