Hello, I am wanting to buy a differential for a Carter GTR 250/300 Interceptor. If anyone has one, or knows anyone that has one laying around, please contact me. Thanks!

There was someone last year that posted he could get new gears to rebuild one. You'll have to search for it.

How many splines do you have on the differential output shaft? 18 or 24 splines.

You have 2 options.

1. You go with EVILWS6 solution. Probably the cheapest solution.

2. I did some live axle kit that have 24 splines. This is the link if you want to check https://gokart.maximum.parts/carter-gtr-250-live-axle-cv-axles-kit.html

I am out of the cv axles but this is not your problem, I assume you have good cv axles. I would have to make the hub for you and you would be able to switch from the differential to a live axle instead. The only thing left you would have to do is the holes that go thru to fit your sprocket and brake rotor. Some came with 5 holes and some came with 6 holes.

Hey Max, this is Mark here in Texas, I have already bought the live axle kit from you LOL, it works great, I just want a spare diff for the other GTR. Hows it going up there, hope all is good in your neck of the woods!

Oh, now I know who you are. I tried to check around here for a machinist but they are all busy. The differential I have is 18 splines and used, really used. I would not help you at all sending you that one.

Keep myself busy with the infinite projects.

Check with EVILWS6 solution, that would be the best one for you.

The hammerhead 250 hubs will work, but you also need to swap out the brake calipers, struts and get 4 on 110 to 4 on 4 adapters for the wheel bolt pattern. GTR replacement hubs are almost unheard of anymore. Another option I have heard of is using 1987 TRX 250X hubs and 4 on 110 to 4 on 4 wheel adapters but I can not confirm this. Actually I can not confirm non of this but I have read about others doing this and they say it works. Maybe Max or someone else could confirm.

I know in my case when I have another problem with the front end I will switch it to the Hammerhead 250 SS front end. You can find some parts but some are impossible to find and I spent a lots of time searching for parts that will retrofit the GTR 250.

I just checked and the strut length is the same from HH250SS to GTR 250. The spindle angle seem the same. The lever for the tie rod end seem to be 1/2" lower on the HH250SS. i say seem because the GTR 250 strut I have is bend.

It depend on you. If the rest of the machine is fine, you spend more money now but in the future you have parts to fix it.

I would have to change one of my GTR 250 to the HH250SS and make a full test to make sure everything would work.

The best would be to find a wheel hub with the same bolt pattern as the GTR 250 wheel and fit the HH250SS strut. That would save money on changing the rim.
