I am trying to gain the most low end power I can. I put on a uni filter, rejetted with a 130 jet, and modified the exhaust by cutting it open and removing all the garbage inside and then welding it back together. The thing does ok when hauling my wife around but does not perform well enough with me on it. I am trail riding and climbing steep hills. I was thinking of changing sprockets, I do not care if the thing only tops out at 20mph I want to climb hills. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

What kind of buggy do you have and what year? Try changing your cam. Get a tuned pipe.

The recipe for copious amount of low end torque is:

Eastside Motorsports pipe
Eastside Motorsports camshaft
A thinner cylinder base gasket

My buggy may not make it up some hills. But it'll always bury the back tires trying. Even with my 240ish pounds in it.

And lower cvt roller weights.

I couldn't believe the difference. I flew up hills with little effort when I was playing with lighter rollers.

12 gram is standard... I played with 7.5 which seemed great for sand running and hills... but feels a little strange to be going down hard trails or pavement at 10k rpm all the time. Europe likes 10 gram, but they are on road all the time. I'm going to be trying 9 gram rollers soon. I'll also pick up 10 gram to compare when I can but they are out of stock at the moment.

Well, that's what I get for not measuring.

Thanks for the info.

Now we need to start a roller weight chart as well I guess.

I've heard 12 gm as a standard weight on OEMs all the time.

Different rear tires and lower tire pressure will help a little.
If you open up the exhaust too much, you'll loose some bottom end also.

I dont think you can open it up to much.I built a open pipe started with 1" tubing went to 1 1/8" and then to 1 1/4" .I made it the same length as the eastside pipe to muffler and it was quicker than the eastside but way to loud.I think the length is the key for the low end.James

Weld a washer in the end to reduce the loudness factor

A SuperTrapp might be a good choice, allowing some tunability for specific needs.
