I know a guy. He's a Ford transmission expert, but does buggy work on the side. He's pretty good.

The only way I know is to put a good one in. I've had erratic idle issues due to bad ones.

How about the ignition switch? I've had them die like that with a bad one, too.

Edit: Given what your multi-meter is telling you, sounds like a bad regulator?

Unfortunately, it's not good news since they are near impossible to find. You might be able to find a machinist to clean the gears up.

Bring firewood if ya got it! Ummmm I could be wrong (but I doubt it)! You probably are going to have to get wood from there. Pretty much all camping areas in pretty much everywhere, don't want you bringing your own wood, to stop the infestation of the emerald ash beetle. Now I believe the exception...
