was approached by a member for an option for a replacement exhaust. almost finished i should be shipping it out at the beginning of this week. here is what i came up w/ and the process. i bolted it up tho the crossfire and it works/sounds pretty good. i couldnt mount it properly so i couldnt really give it a proper test, but i await eagerly for the owners feedback when installed.

fortunately i had an HH250 w/ the motor still in it. although it has a cn and not the cf 250 it looks like it should work as long as there isnt any shift linkage issues.

First off I would like to thank John over at JD's Custom Buggies  for making the exhaust. =D> =D>

When looking at modification and upgrades for my buggy, I really wanted to get the HH performance exhaust, that is until I seen the price tag on it. I got talking with JD about a completely different topic and somehow we got on the subject of exhaust's and at the end of the conversation, POW! he was going to build an exhaust for me. (for a very reasonable price)

Right after install the exhaust (and rejetting the carb) I noticed a substantial power increase out of the hole, I can easily turn over my 23" tires now. My top speed on GPS before the exhaust change was 45MPH, with the new exhaust I am now able to hit 49MPH! JD made the exhaust with a removable tip, so we could play with different exhaust openings to determine what will work best. But for the first run, I am very impressed. (I also have to mention that it looks and sounds awesome too)

Here is a picture of what it looks like on my buggy and also a shot out to JD at JD's Custom Buggies. Thanks!

It looks good. The length of that header should favor torque. Did you have to rejet the carburetor after installing this exhaust?

Yes, went from a 128, up to a 135.

I like it, thinking of doing something similar with my honda 200 engine. JD, where do you get your bent pipes from, or do you make them

Where are you in michigan?

If jerseydevil would make affordable exhausts for 150's he would have a gold mine hint hint hint

1st off thanx kev for giving me a chance and the nice words, it is great to have had the chance to meet, talk with, and serve you. i know we'll keep in touch.

yota, i bend all the pipe myself.

dirtroad, i have made a few 150 exhausts locally and on both my 150 (yerf dog) and the fiance's 250 transplanted crossfire i made the exhausts. after doing experiments w/ gutting stock mufflers, using mx and atv mufflers and cutting and pasting together atv exhausts to make my own. the one i made for the yerf that i have on there now is by far the best. at the time i didnt have my bender and had to use a tube roller but i got lucky. now that i have the bender as soon as i have time i want to hit the r&d drawing board all over again, because the possibilities are much broader than the roller would allow me to do.
if you or anyone for that matter is interested feel free to contact me via p.m. here, on FB or through my website which are both in my signature.
i will be out of commission for the next three weeks due to the fact that i'm getting married in that time so any fab work w/ in that window would not be possible but if you would like to get the ball rolling feel free to contact. i will be in the shop a lot cleaning and organizing stuff so parts shipping might be feasible. seems my buds want to throw the the "bachelor" party there if you want too call it that, so i need to make the place presentable among the other arrangements that are left.

had to make another one for myself for the crosshammer project. gonna try something different and make the exhaust mounts mount to the motor instead of the frame, so the exhaust and motor pivot together for chain adjustment. i have to wait til the motor is rebuilt and back in the hole before i cant finish that and paint it. the other thing i'm going to try is use a DG muffler i have in the shop just to test it, and save a little time on the muffler fab. if it doesnt work then i'll just make what i've done in the past.

made some brackets for the muffler and a mount to the reverse box bracket on the motor so it pivots w/ the motor when the chain needs to tighten. also added a couple of tabs for the DG.

nice work JD......

so Gaurdian says his xhaust that you made sounds great....

our Joyner 250 exhaust is LOUD LOUD LOUD...Ive got a kawasaki offroad 4 stroke exhaust tip on it.... originally the motorcycle was a dual muffler exhaust..... Im using the one muffler only...it still seems too easy breathing.....mebbe that's the issue, a much shorter pipe run than your design with the big loop....I probably need to change mufflers too....

the second pic was an earlier design, SUPER short run, very loud, and at the time the engine was running lean, this muffler got super hot and ended up cracking apart (aluminum)

thought I would add these pics to this thread seeing how its on custom exhaust
